The appointment of Jo Battersby as Operations Manager and a shift in organisational structure has enabled Riverland Wine to begin 2018 with renewed energy and optimism.
The appointment of Jo Battersby as Operations Manager at Riverland Wine and a revised organisational structure has added new energy and capacity as the organisation’s wine growers and winemakers prepare for a third successive year of improved grape and wine returns.
Chris Byrne, has taken the reins as Executive Chair after a decade of challenging industry conditions. Over that period he has combined the grower and winemaker resource base and established the organisation’s reputation as a reliable, innovative and inclusive industry body. Jo’s appointment will enable him to focus more on strategic priorities and to further develop collaborative relationships with members, government agencies and other wine groups at regional, State and federal levels. Jo will focus on communicating plans and outcomes, delivering services and benefits and maintaining close alignment with the Strategic Plan.
“With extensive senior experience in strategy development, project management, team building and community engagement, Jo has the capability and senior experience we need for this demanding new role,” Mr Byrne said.
“This appointment has been made after much deliberation over the skill set needed for effective, implementation of the plan. The timing of this appointment will ensure Riverland Wine members will be best placed to ride the new wave of prosperity as values of grapes, wine and properties all reveal steady improvement. To have discovered this talent in the Riverland was an extra bonus. It represents a further strengthening of Riverland Wine and the region.”
Describing the Operations Manager as a ‘pivotal role’ Mr Byrne added, “Jo will lead the ongoing development of Australia’s largest wine region, building on the themes of leadership, innovation, unity and pride. She will have overall responsibility for day-to-day operations at Riverland Wine, working closely with the management committees, grower and winemaker members, delivery groups, government bodies, industry agencies encouraging cooperation and collaboration for the benefit of the region’s wine industry.”
