In this data-driven world YOU need to “Control your Data to Control your Destiny”
This will be made possible through VitiVisor, an initiative of Riverland Wine. Vitivisor will enable you to manage your data, enabling you to make decisions that will not only lower your cost of production but help you to make decisions based on ‘what if’ scenarios.
In it’s third year, this project, being developed by the University of Adelaide and with funding support from Wine Australia and Riverland Wine has a focus on the collation and aggregation of data from a range of sources.
You are invited to learn more about this project and to see how VitiVisor collects Data, creates Information and will deliver Value to the Riverland grower community.
There are three key layers of VitiVisor that provide a data-to-decision value chain;
Data & Communication
- A ‘one-stop shop’ for your datasets that can be used to support your on-farm decisions. Data in this layer is collected (or ‘aggregated’) from third-party sensors or other information sources in your vineyard. Communication and data integration also forms part of this layer, with a focus on developing a customisable IoT network that enables communication from sensors to the cloud. Incorporated in this layer will be data collected and collated from ground-based vision systems, providing much higher resolution and more detailed information on your vines, under-canopies, mid-rows and infrastructure health compared with alternative (e.g. satellite) data sources.
Situational Awareness & Prediction
- Describes past, present and future (to end-of-season) status of the vineyard. This layer focuses on the canopy, water and financial status of your vineyard. Comprising a set of algorithms that combine various biophysical data sources into a single ‘point of truth’, and uses a combination of biophysics-based, finance-based and/or machine learning algorithms to explore future projections, conditional on historical and current state, as well as a set of user-identified management actions.
Scenario Planning & Advisory
- Provides grower tools to help explore ‘what-if’ scenarios and trade-offs to help support your bottom line. This layer comprises visualisations and interfaces co-designed with growers, and models/algorithms that combine the data streams that are decision-critical (i.e. all data that affects your bottom line). The tools provided in this layer include ‘benchmarking’, ‘scenario planning’ and ‘operational advice’.
