The annual general meetings for Riverland winegrowers and winemakers will be held on Tuesday, August 25. That might seem to be a long way off but now is the time to think about whether you want to become involved to help influence future directions and decision making. Any Riverland winegrape grower who has delivered winegrapes within the previous 12 months and contributed to the Riverland Wine Industry Fund and has not claimed a refund of that contribution, is eligible to be nominated. Nominations must be lodged with the association by 5pm, Monday, July 20. These must be signed by the proposer and two seconders, who are also contributing members to the Riverland Wine Industry Fund, as well as by the nominee to signify his or her willingness to stand for election.
The RWGA has eight grower representatives, four of whom will stand down at this year’s AGM at the expiry of their terms. Terms are for two years. These existing members may renominate, but others are urged to become involved. If the association receives more than four nominations for the vacancies, a ballot for election of members will be conducted by a postal vote that will be forwarded to all ordinary members. Advertisements calling for nominations will appear shortly in the local newspapers.
