Management of AWRI and GWRDC were impressed that over 80 Riverland growers, viticultural staff and winemaker representatives registered for the technical seminar held at the McCormick Centre, in Renmark, on Thursday last week.
One of the researchers who presented several sessions and is well known to Riverlanders, Peter Dry, remarked that the previous record attendance for such events was around about 50 – so well done to all concerned. Those in attendance heard a number of presentations including: irrigation management strategies to manipulate wine quality, the impact of soil and vine nutrient status on wine quality, why we need clones; why different varieties respond differently to drought and heat stress, carbohydrate and nutrition in grapevines and several presentations regarding post-harvest vineyard management and improving fruit set.
Since the event, the AWRI has contacted all attendees and provided electronic copies of all the presentations that can be downloaded. AWRI also presented a 2GB memory stick for storing such programs.
Any Riverland Wine members who were unable to attend can contact Kate at Riverland Wine to make arrangements for electronic copies.
