The AWRI’s Senior Viticulturalist, Marcel Essling, has notified industry this week that use of the popular fungicide, Captan may be subject to restrictions for the coming season. Marcel said “Growers should be aware that there have been some very recent changes to the regulations regarding maximum residue limits (MRL’s) for the fungicide Captan, in the EU for the coming season. This MAY lead to wine companies changing their agrochemical guidelines in regard to the use of Captan. Growers are strongly advised to contact their winery prior to making plans regarding Captan for the coming season”. Keep an eye on this column for further developments.
