A number of boutique wine producers are collaborating for another Riverland Small Winemakers Collaborative Cellar Door. Bassham Wines will host the small wine producers on Sunday, October 6 at their property on Bassham Road, Barmera. They will be joined by 919 Wines, Top Block, Spook Hill, Mundoo Ridge, Junnare Wines, Whistling Kite Wines and Back Verandah Wines.
The event gives people an opportunity to taste the quality and diversity of the region’s established and emerging small wine producers – some who do not participate in festivals and similar events. The wineries process less than 20 tonnes annually and each batch is individually made to express the best characteristics of the fruit and the vision of the producer.
The Riverland is home to some of the world’s largest wine producers, but a growing number of small producers are now challenging the notion that this is all that the Riverland can do.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the wine producers and hear their stories of how they came to produce wine, the background of the varieties they have selected and what they hope to achieve in the future.
Food will be available to purchase and entertainment will be provided by Bower Birds.
The cellar door is at 27 Bassham Road, Barmera, and entry is free.
