Just over a week has passed since I stepped into the role of General Manager of Riverland Wine, taking on responsibility for the day to day management, advocacy and strategic communications of the organisation. After more than 18 years Chris Byrne has stepped down from his executive position to focus on Chairmanship of the combined growers and winemakers group.
The wine industry is part of the fabric of the Riverland, and I am delighted to join the industry. In particular, I am excited about working with growers, winemakers and stakeholders to ensure that they are well informed of issues pertinent to their businesses and growing practices.
I have worked in the almond industry for the last 15 years, and am a proud member of the Riverland community. My long term experience with the almond industry, and in particular my previous role at the Almond Board of Australia yielded knowledge that will be advantageous to the wine community.
Advocating for members and influencing complex policies is a constant challenge. My advocacy skills will help illustrate and inform members on key programs and activities. As we move forward, you will see our focus shift from conventional communication methods and social media channels to video, animation, podcasts, blogs and webinars and possibly culminating in a dedicated newsfeed app for Riverland Wine members.
I look forward to getting out and about and meeting with everyone over the coming months and working with them to move further forward into a more sustainable, economically viable and knowledgeable community.
