Heralding a new era for the Riverland Wine Show, Philip Reedman MW has been appointed Chief Wine Judge as the event moves towards its 50th year.
Mr Reedman, one of only 370 Masters of Wine in the world, is globally recognised as a leading wine expert who has built a well-respected profile on the international and domestic stage. Bringing a wealth of experience and intimate knowledge of wines grown and produced in the Riverland, his acceptance of the position provides further validation of our status as wine region.
Following his appointment Philip said, “I am honoured to have been asked to fill the role of Chief Judge of the Riverland Wine Show and am delighted to be judging a field of what promises to be an exciting range of wines offering both traditional and alternative varieties”.
Chris Byrne, Riverland Wine Show Chair and Executive Chair of Riverland Wine was enthusiastic about the appointment saying, “Phil Reedman is a quality appointment of the highest calibre. His association with the show positions it as progressive and innovative with a view to it becoming the pre-eminent regional wine show in Australian in 2022 – its 50th year – and one that judges will want to be involved in as panel members”.
The Riverland Wine Show remains an important forum for the evaluation and assessment of wine produced from fruit sourced from the inland-irrigated regions of Swan Hill, Murray Darling, Riverina, Rutherglen and Riverland. These areas are an integral part of the Australian wine industry, responsible for the production of high quality wines across a wide range of both traditional and alternative styles.
Judging will take place on September 4 and 5 and the Gala Dinner will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2018.
