Mallee Estate was named Riverland Winery of the Year and Kingston Estate Wines was named Australia Petit Verdot Winery of the Year in the 2018 New York International Wine Competition.
The competition, now in its eighth year, received over 1,400 submissions from more than 24 countries in over 50 different categories. Through true blind tasting by ‘trade only’ judges – retail store buyers, sommeliers, restaurant beverage directors, hoteliers, distributors and importers, whose livelihood depends on knowing what the consumer wants – the competition enables wineries to place their product before industry buyers in one of the biggest wine markets in the world.
Mallee Estate picked up a Double Gold medal for its 10 year old Tawny Port and Gold medals for its 2015 Chardonnay and 2018 Sauvignon Blanc. Kingston Estate won Gold for their Kingston Echelon 2015 Eminent Petit Verdot and Kingston Echelon 2015 Shiraz.
For the full medal count, visit the Wine Medal Tally on the Riverland Wine website.
The 2019 New York International Wine Competition is now open for submissions through to May 3, 2019. This is a great opportunity to present your wine to actual buyers if you plan to enter the American market. It is a very affordable way to get your wine in front of real trade buyers to test the market and it gives wineries who are not currently imported or distributed in the US or New York the opportunity to be discovered by top wine buyers.
More information is available on their website. You have to be in it to win it.
