The board, the Chief Executive and Senior Management of the SA Tourism Commission spent 2 days in the Riverland last week conducting a normal Board meeting and visiting many of our region’s special places, hidden gems and tourism industry operators.
On Wednesday evening the board invited tourism operators, local government and industry representatives to a function at the Renmark club to meet many of the locals and to share some of the plans the commission has for South Australia and for the Riverland.
Chair, Jane Jeffreys introduced the Board members and spoke at length about the Commission’s charter and its plans to work with key regional groups to encourage local tourism operators and to boost the number of visitors to our region. She spoke of the research, carried out in New Zealand that’s revealed one of New Zealand’s favourite holiday destinations is South Australia’s river Murray for a houseboat holiday on a mighty river.
A highlight of the Renmark club event was the launch of a new TV commercial to be screened in New Zealand, inviting our friends from across “the ditch” to come and see what South Australia has to offer. You can check the video on Youtube and count the number of Riverland exposures.
