Register NOW for the Precision Ag workshop

Members are reminded that a Precision Agriculture (Viticulture) workshop for wine growers and almond growers will be held at the Loxton Research Centre on Friday, November 3, 2017.  The workshop, organised by the Society of Precision Agriculture Australia (SPAA), Riverland Wine and the Almond Board will highlight current technologies and cost effective ways to use modern day tools and methods to work smarter, not harder.

Workshop topics will include:

  • Identifying crops under stress using hand-held and UAV mounted technology
  • Opportunities in viticulture with irrigated vineyards using PA technology
  • How industry meets innovation in Australian tree crops
  • Airborne remote sensing measured vineyard nitrogen and water status in the Coonawarra
  • Accessing and making the most of the free NRM ET forecasting service.

There will also be a PA demonstration by Swan Systems and XAIRCRAFT

SPAA Event Coordinator Joanne Pech said “Growers are often surprised to find out they are already utilising PA if they are using soil moisture monitoring technology, boundary mapping, irrigation scheduling or product quality analysis.  SPAA is focused on supporting grape and almond producers to adopt PA and maximise its value in their business.”

The free workshop includes morning tea and lunch.  Registration is a must to ensure adequate catering on the day. To register contact Nicole Dimos phone 0437 422 000 or email.

The workshop is funded by the SA Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board through the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme and NRM levies.  SPAA has partnered with the Almond Board of Australia, Riverland Wine and the Riverland Viticultural Technical Group to create the program.
