The Murray-Darling Basin Plan has provided significant improvements to the health of the Murray River and it is important that these continue to be delivered in full and on time.
The Plan helps to offer security for the health of the river and the 3.4 million people that depend on it, including communities and industries. The river is the lifeblood of our agricultural industry and river communities, supporting local and national economic growth and production for generations.
While South Australia has committed time and money to manage the river, other states have not matched that commitment.
A campaign – Stand Up for the Murray – has been launched by the State Government to put public pressure on all governments to recommit to the Basin Plan and to establish an independent, national body to ensure fair compliance among all states.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make things right and leave a healthy, working Murray River for future generations.
