Riverland Wine joins the chorus in welcoming Caroline Phillips has as General Manager of Destination Riverland (DR) replacing Tony Sharley who has vacated the role to establish a new Riverland tourism venture, after four years as GM getting the organisation up and running. Destination Riverland Chairman, Peter Walker, said “the Board was very impressed with Caroline’s achievements in the South Australian tourism industry and her experience in regional tourism. Her background in marketing and her vision and determination to involve Riverland tourism operators and tourism related industries in growing tourism in the region made her a standout candidate for the role”.
Mr Walker said “Caroline’s familiarity with Riverland tourism means that she is ‘up to speed’ with opportunities for the Riverland tourism industry, and she will quickly commence implementation of the new Riverland Tourism Plan 2020 and the Riverland Marketing Plan 2015/16”.
Caroline is enthusiastic about South Australia’s regional tourism, and worked for the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) for 10 years including a five-year term as Regional Tourism Manager for the Murraylands.
More recently she has worked as an independent marketing consultant servicing clients across regional South Australia, specialising in tourism related marketing. Riverland Wine looks forward to working closely with Caroline and building greater awareness of all the region has to offer and to build on our key attributes: food, wine and tourism.
Farewell Tony. Thanks for the hard yards establishing DR and putting Riverland tourism fair and square on the tourism map and best wishes for your new venture.
