Wine Chiefs to Speak

In another first Riverland Wine is pleased to announce a special forum will be convened at the Chaffey Theatre on Wednesday, October 15 with registrations from 2.30pm for all Riverland Wine members. The key decision makers from six major wineries that purchase the great majority of Riverland winegrapes and Australia’s largest bulk wine trader have agreed to participate with Riverland Wine chair Brian Walsh as moderator. These chiefs came together early this year to discuss how they each see the future for the wine industry in this region.

These are uncertain times for all stakeholders. The quest for better information about global supply and demand trends and wine prices is relentless. Every grower, every winery and every wine marketer wants to know and needs to know more about global trends and consumer preferences as soon as possible to inform their decision making and enable better risk management. The RWGA has for years urged all growers to be sure they understand their gross margins and the real cost of growing grapes. It is important, also, to understand wine markets and wine prices in those various markets.

The companies participating are: Angove Family Winemakers (John Angove), Kingston Estate Wines (Bill Moularadellis), Treasury Estate Wines (Stuart McNab), Yalumba (Andrew Murphy), Accolade (Simon Williams), Pernod Ricard (Brett McKinnon) and Austwine (Jim Moularadellis).

Each of the speakers will be invited to make a presentation of up to 10 minutes offering their perspective as to how they foresee the short term future for the wine industry in this region and their expectations for the medium to longer term.

After the presentations the speakers will assemble together as a panel on stage and Brian Walsh will moderate a Q & A session with questions and comments from the audience. The event will conclude with a barbeque at around 5pm.

The audience will be strictly limited to financial members of the Riverland Wine Industry Fund. Refundees and others, including media, will not be admitted.

Members wishing to attend will need to book well in advance. We expect to fill the Chaffey very quickly for this event.
