Approximately 35 people attended a workshop ‘Adapting to difficult vintages’ presented by the AWRI in the Renmark Hotel on Wednesday May 13. Those attending comprised winemakers, growers and viticulture technical service providers.
The workshop presented technical information about climate, and growing grapes and making wine with fruit that has been influenced by extremes of heat, wet weather, and some of the related impacts. The tasting of smoke affected wines will linger long in the memory of those who took part.
There were suggestions of ways to build efficiencies, and demonstrations of alternative variety wines. This is an area where the Riverland already excels, and really needs to transform these wine results into market success.
People who were unable to attend the workshop but would like a copy of the presentation can email Kate at Riverland Wine for details.
